SB 66 Fetal Personhood – We know what this means

Will these men ever stop?

There will be an Executive Session on SB 66 — fetal personhood — on Tuesday, May 9. SB 66 provides that a fetus should be included in the definition of “another” for the purposes of first and second degree murder, manslaughter, negligent homicide, and causing or aiding suicide. SB 66 is unnecessary and inconsistent with current law, and if passed will have consequences that threaten the rights and health of women in our state.

Email members of the House Criminal Justice Committee to encourage them to oppose SB 66.

New Hampshire law already punishes assaults resulting in loss of a pregnancy as felonies. In other states that have adopted “personhood” measures like SB 66 pregnant women have been punished with involuntary medical treatment, surveillance, and incarceration for “risky” behaviors that are not criminalized for others. And with SB 66’s extremely limited exception, women and their healthcare providers are left particularly vulnerable to criminal prosecution under SB 66.

With your help, we can fight for pregnant women and their rights as full persons. SB 66 could create a legal basis for depriving all pregnant women of their status as full persons under the law and contribute to a nationwide effort to erode women’s reproductive rights under Roe v. Wade — if we don’t urge our legislators to oppose SB 66.

Our opposition has continued to bombard Committee Members with hundreds of emails. Let’s show them that we are committed and strong in our opposition to SB66.

If you are able to attend the session on Tuesday, May 9 at 10 a.m. at the state house, please RSVP, Christina Gibson, at

We can win this — but we need you in the fight!
