Senate Bill # 7
What it does: It changes financial eligibility for Food stamps, making it harder to receive them. It is modeled on a national effort by conservatives to cut back on assistance.
Why? Food stamps are a federal program (no state $ needed) and vitally important to the low income people, families and kids who are now using them.
Here’s the page with all the Reps who sit on that committee. Family Friendly Economy people have had good experiences with Don LeBrun, Joe Guthrie, and John Fothergill so it’s probably worth starting with them to see where they stand.
Here’s the page with all the info on the hearing tomorrow to be heard at a 1pm hearing of the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee.
Don’t forget our next meeting is April 19th at 6:30.
